RPG Tip: As a player, ask “what would my character do?” and also “what would make the story better?” That creates great character moments that fit into the style of game you’re playing. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, let your character grow. Who they are at level 1 should not be who they are at level 5 or 10. #DnD #TTRPG

Its our AP, where @clight101.bsky.social puts @orikes.bsky.social and I thought hell. :)

Its been a while since we played this, but this was an especially interesting one. We were very close to actual full on disaster. One point of Lay on Hands makes a difference, apparently.

The Logo for the Heroes of Hovels Way, which is an image of Eremon, a young man with blue eyes and long brown hair and a goatee, next to Odi, a young woman with long black hair and glasses, with a raccoon between them. There is a d20 with a sword in front of it, with the words "Heroes of Hovels Way" up front.

RPG Tip: As a player, when in doubt, make a bold choice. The story will move forward and create excitement. As a friend likes to say. “It’s a plan, I didn’t say it was a good plan.” #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, celebrate the successes of others. Cheering on the fighter’s crit or the bard’s clever quip builds energy. Plus, it sets a tone for the table. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, if you’re not sure what a scene looks like ask the GM, “what do I notice?” It invites description, deepens immersion at that moment, and helps clarify the shared narrative space. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, share your backstory at the table. A detail or two can spark plot hooks &bonds. Also, if your backstory never hits the table then it matters a lot less to what’s happening. Other players should then seek to help make your backstory part of the game. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, listen as much as you talk. TTRPGs are better when everyone’s voice is heard. #DnD #TTRPG

I really like this tip a lot. Those moments give time for characters to breathe a bit and be actual people in the setting rather than just avatars running from encounter to encounter solving problems.

RPG Tip: As a player, give your adventurer downtime habits. Cooking, journaling, or singing songs adds some humanoidanity. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, do not hoard abilities. Use your cool powers early and often, the table wants to see them shine. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, describe your actions in 1st or 3rd person. A little flavor makes every roll more cinematic and provides context so you can have a better chance to create that shared narrative space. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, play to your strengths but lean into your flaws. That tension makes great moments. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, ask “how do I know you?” to another PC. Instant connections give some history, depth, and things to play off of while gaming. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, give your character goals. Even small ambitions help guide choices and roleplay. This is a big one and can really help you play more than an avatar for you while playing if that's what you're looking for in your play. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, FAIL LOUDLY. A spectacular blunder can be as fun and memorable as a big success. Players, this one is huge. GMs, yawl also need to make sure its memorable and interesting so players don't try and avoid failure in the future. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, lean into bonds. Friendships, rivalries, and debts create richer stories than gold pieces. Besides, it's more fun to swim in a giant vault of gold pieces with a friend. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, share the spotlight. Support other players’ big moments and celebrate their wins. There's a previous tip about how these games are about collaboration. #DnD #TTRPG

RPG Tip: As a player, ask questions of the world. It shows investment and helps weave your character into the story. #DnD #TTRPG
