Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Who has the transcript? 🤔
Yesterday, Trump defended the Saudi Crown Prince in the Oval Office.

He said he had “nothing” to do with the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

But I reviewed a call while serving on Trump’s NSC that I believe would be of interest to the Khashoggi family and the American people.

Release the transcript.

For me it's the way the press pool just quietly went along with it because he's the president

The entire point of this country is that we don't have to let some guy do whatever he wants just because of his title. We don't have to respect him or go along with him just because he holds an office
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

I keep coming back to the Joseph McCarthy moment where the red-baiting senator was finally asked, “Have you no decency,” and his cult of personality burst. “Quiet, Piggy.” We shouldn’t forget that the president of the United States uttered those words in this moment.

5/It’s a dodge, of course. Trump knew that he could take the publicly popular position on release of the files, watch it pass in Congress & count on his lawyers at DOJ to decline to release files, or at least parts of them he wants withheld, b/c of the new investigation.

I don't know if the Epstein vote is a one-off or not, but I've been thinkin of that very thin, translucent sticker film that comes when you order, say, a new monitor. It's devilishly hard to get the first little bit of the corner to separate but once you do, the entire thing pulls off very easily.
