NOT TO MENTION that there is no feasible way this would not have changed Lucia. Not only was she about to be hung, but there is implications of torture during her capture. Even her hair is a reminder of that.

Can you imagine the amount of trauma that decision must have caused in Elincia? After the entire Daein war? This is the woman who directly has a skill tied to the fact that she refuses to kill.
And she had to stand there in the decision that she will "willingly" let Lucia die.

They can't just go back to a moment in time where the decision hadn't been made. Elincia collapses out of relieve and Lucia never so much as blames her for it. AND THIS IS AFTER Geoffrey, Bastian and Lucia had to learn a lesson about valueing their lives more.

There's so much here to tackle in the aftermath of that decision!! Lucia actively praised Elincia and was willing to go down with her head held high, proud of Elincia and her country, but got saved at the last second -
It's a moment that ultimately never came to frutition but can never be reverted

Got me foaming at the mouth because hello!!!!
The fact that Elincia had to sacrifice Lucia because she had to act in the interest of her country instead of her own ( Chrome could never and that's why it pisses me off awakening never even criticizes him for that but I digress )
