It is the tradeoff those of us with slightly reduced height have. Might be tougher to get those plates/bowls down from the top cabinet shelf, but it does make plane travel less stressful and cramped.
The fall moon through the trees.
Lovely full moon last night.
Followed that link, and the irony of what popped up was wild:
Night sky, on the last night of summer camp. Couldn't resist getting a shot of the big dipper perfectly framed by the tree tops.
No lies detected.

Also JUMBO!?!?! That's awesome.
We just got tickets to this show in NYC through TDF.
Full moon through power lines and winter branches.
Just finished Witch King by Martha Wells and am once again reminded she is superlative at world building. Any aspiring author who wants to see world building that is both exceptionally well done while simultaneously serving the needs to the story being told would do well to be reading her work.
Ah yes, back when the word processor program was a cartridge you popped in to write. Those were the days.
It's two things. A pyramid scheme. And a way to hide/sneak wealth around without consequences.
OMG, yes!!! That would be fantastic.
I'm curious though about the 45 hours more of Seanan's work read than MRK's narration. I can account for 14 hours, as one of the books I read was the recent Incryptid, but the rest of the novels were all October Daye...so, there's an unaccounted for 31 hours of listening that don't match up.
So, my Audible stats came in:
No surprise that @seananmcguire.bsky.social is the top listened to author, as both myself, and my younger son each read approximately 13 novels of hers last year, which then naturally meant that @maryrobinettekowal.com is the top narrator. Here's the stats:
The point being, when we set goals, it's good to examine the results. What are the unintended consequences of those goals? What do we give up in other action and opportunity by focusing on those goals? Does the goal actually match what you hoped it would achieve for you?
On the heels of yesterday's post about reading, I'm pulling back to 36 books for this year. Not because I failed last year's goal of 48 by 3, but because I noticed I was shying away from longer books. I don't want to set goals that stifle variety of experience due to an arbitrary numerical goal.
It's really 4 1/2 but I didn't finish book 5 by the end of the year. And, yes, I did.
For 2024, I came up short on my reading target of 48 books. Out of the 45 books I completed, 32 books by 11 women, and 13 books by 13 men.

The author that I read the most, this year is @seananmcguire.bsky.social with 14 titles. @caseyblair.bsky.social comes in second with 4 titles.
Tonight’s Moon as I was leaving work
If you heard a sigh just now, that was me. Because the feeling of truth in those words is so strong, I had to let loose a sigh that has to have been audible for several states, if not most of the eastern seaboard.
In particular, as I was pulling up to the Dr. Office, Toby was intentionally bleeding into a jar to give to someone as an emergency measure. If that's not fitting, I'm not sure what would be.
Feels rather appropriate listening to an October Daye book on the way to and fro a blood draw at the Dr office.
