I love Red 💙📚
I wrote wishtree just before an election, and I knew I wanted to tell a story about being kind and welcoming. As I was thinking about who my characters might be, I noticed that I spent a lot of time looking at a beautiful oak in my courtyard.

All of a sudden, I knew Red had to be my narrator. ❤️🌳

The best and worst superpower a teacher has is how we always succeed when someone says "just find a way to make it work"

As an English teacher it sometimes feels very overwhelming to both want to go 100% paper/pencil to avoid AI, and also know it’s my responsibility to prepare my kids to use technology - and this is another extremely good case in point.

Really great book! 💙📚
Ten years ago today, two inmates escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in Northern NY, prompting a three-week manhunt. And ten years ago tomorrow, I started scribbling ideas for the novel that would eventually become BREAKOUT!
