rónán - he/him - 20 (he's physically 20 since he died at that age, but he's really 23). he is 5'10''.

- scared of dogs and rotting entirely

there's so much more that I'm too tired to write. I just wanted to post and remind people that it wasn't always just big stores and scary movies. my family still hosts dumb suppers and we set up altars for our departed. it's not been entirely defaced and hasn't lost all meaning or purpose.

jack o lanterns and protective symbols were left out (usually on windowsills or around doorframes) to scare off evil spirits. trick or treating, although a much more recent development, was originally intended to scare off evil spirits as well.

traditionally, jack o lanterns were carved from turnips (since pumpkins are from the americas and we did not have them), and "dumb suppers" were prepared so the living could eat and chat with the deceased, updating on the world's events. doors and windows (facing west) were sometimes left open.

samhain (or halloween) is an irish holiday originating over 2000 years ago. it is supposedly the day during which the veil between this world and the otherworld (where the dead and other spirits reside, many say it's underground) is the weakest, allowing spirits to visit the land of the living.

not currently christian but was raised catholic
