Around weve got coyotes, wild turkeys, and in my yard we have squirrels, rabbits, new family of racoons fml, sometimes a possum and mice, probably a rat never witnessed.

No, I don't live in the country or even the burbs. I live downtown, 6 blocks away from 600' towers. 1.5 mil metro area...wth.

It is that time of year where I need to reset my password for the uni. I inserted some version of WTF. You can figure it out. Here was my response: "We've seen that password too many times before." I guess they are onto my feelings about password changes.

Pritzker: "It's unconscionable. This has never happened before. They're calling out troops onto the streets of a state that doesn't want them and they're not even telling us where they're gonna go, what they're gonna do. This hasn't happened I don't think since the Civil War."

I can't process it, and then realize it's pretty disgusting.

Does X do Y?

Yes, X does Y. Here is more info about it.

But ends up, Z does Y not X. It was completely full of shit.

And it even references the original information which clearly is for a different thing.

Very 90s internet but with the confidence of a privileged white man. 😂 Go figure.

Changing the data source to public web based info is not going well. The aggregation of data is awful. They are taking information completely out of context and trying to apply it to the prompt or question that you ask. You will ask for a fact, simple one. It will create one, a very inaccurate one.

So has anyone else noticed generative ai and llms increasing in their inaccuracies? Chat gpt, Gemini, Claude, etc.? And I don't mean just doing things wrong. I mean providing info, claims, recommendations, evidence, etc.

But also I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars in fees to find out I can't afford all of the expenses, but it seems deadlines are like now. Tips?

I should also say that we are very fortunate that many of the colleges are waiving her app fees because of athletic recruiting, but it isn't just about my kid. When I am trying to resolve an illogical process, it is about all of the kids, especially poverty affected, minoritized, underrepresented.

So, admissions folks -- I need to pay application fees before we get her financial package to know if we can afford the school? Admission fees are already prohibitive at a point. I don't see why one would pay for them for later finding out the financial package doesn't line up w/tuition, fees.

What else?

Higher ed has value.

If 2025 isn't a reason enough why everyone should go to college, I don't know what is. You know, where people learn about --- oh let's say -- >

questioning things, critical thinking, problem-solving, curiosity, ethics, integrity, character, legal and moral values, fairness, accountability...

Anecdotally, I'm starting to sense our STEM/Math problem in the urban centers stems from early elementary school, as early as 1st and 2nd grade whereas by 7th grade it's already a loss with little chance for recovery.
