Had to shrink the candles on our now "hotly anticipated" year-in-review graphic. That's because ebbwater turns 12 today. The density of lit candles is inching towards being its own hazard!

We are continuing to learn and unlearn as we prep for our teenage years. Happy Birthday to us ;)

« The most affordable home is one you don’t have to rebuild. ». Such a good framing of the nexus of natural hazards and the housing crisis. Let’s do something about it!

Ebbwater is pleased to have played a small role in this work.

In this piece with Radio-Canada, principal @tamsinlyle.bsky.social spoke about the importance of investments in watershed restoration and protection as something "we" have control over and that will reduce flood hazard severity and therefore flood damages.

Semá:th Xhosta, drained 100 years ago, has created one of the wickedest problems in #floodriskreduction that we know of. A truly fascinating and potentially impactful collaborative project that we are proud to be working on.

#Tsunamis are one of many natural hazards that are a concern on the west coast of Canada. Today, #tsunamiawarenessday, is a great time to learn more about them. #UnderstandingRisk is the first step to preparing for it. The US has some good resources: coast.noaa.gov/gallery/vide...

With the #bcelection soon upon us - we've written our now expected and anticipated round up of party platforms through the lens of disaster and climate adaptation. It's not a great news story: www.linkedin.com/posts/ebbwat...

It's #BCBudget Day!

"Will the budget support meaningful disaster risk reduction (so that all that amazing science can happen and have purpose)?"

Mmmm...our take on it is "maybe, if you squint hard and read between the lines with rose-coloured glasses?". #bcpoli

Did you read the Throne Speech? Don't despair, here's a #flood googles recap. Flood, #climate, and #disaster are all on the wane in the minds of the Premier's office, but still holding on. Focus is on past actions as opposed to future ones. Looking to the #bcbudget to see how this plays out. #bcpoli
