kinda missed 06 lol. Came out before I owned my first home console so it didn't leave that scar. Frontiers was actually the first time I bought a sonic game day 1 without knowing what I was getting into lol. Ngl Sonic Frontiers put in me in this mindset exactly. Game isn't bad but my expectations were so high that I'm sure I wouldn't have been as disappointed if I'd waited until like at least two months after the game came out lol. I'd be lying if I said I didn't pre-order SXSG immediately after though.

But at the same time I can't say it's surprising that FF7 re-3 attracts people with that mindset because it very clearly is aiming to be the escapist wish fulfillment fantasy that might appeal to this type of player in a way that the original game might not.

One take that kind of annoyed me was someone saying that in regards to the theme of the cycle of\loss of life and the path from grief to acceptance theme was that they wished people would stop trying to project real life onto videogames.

As a casual fan of FF7 with no real strong attachment to it, it admittedly doesn't bother me as much that re-trilogy is seemingly aiming to disregard what the original game was all about. Really what bothers me is the ways I see people going about defending it.
