It's very exciting... for Tropfest 2026, we are making a film! Based on Carole Kelly's (author of Black, no sugar) short play with the same title and which was featured at Pieces of Pottery, to a resounding applause, this film is going to be a fun little number. Black humour (what else would it be?), and starring Lithgow's favourite talent, Sam 'Bucca' Williams as Lucifer, the film will be shot in either late November or early December. More details here.

John Polson's gift to the film industry, Tropfest, is back in 2026! Because I've been procrastinating for years and years about making a film, on hearing that Tropfest is back, it's given me the impetus to DO it. Lucky for me, I have a wonderful story already written, thanks to Carole Kelly; her short play 'Tick Tock' is perfect for translating to the screen.

Pieces of Pottery has been running since April 2025. It’s a community project featuring monthly performances by artists of the NSW Central West and Blue Mountains. The objectives include creating opportunities for emerging and established artists to try new things before audiences, in a supportive environment. All disciplines are encouraged, from music and poetry, short plays to dance, readings… you name it it’s all welcome at the PoP shows.

We held our inaugural Pieces of Pottery show at Art House at the Pottery in Lithgow (Facebook page) on Sunday 27th April 2025. Despite the rain which decided to make an appearance, the show went on to an appreciative audience. It featured original songs, poetry and an improvised play, all centred around the ANZAC theme. The artists who featured were:

Yesterday's Pieces of Pottery Creative's get-together yesterday at Lithgow's Art House at the Pottery, was terrific. We had a lovely crowd of eager artists ready to get some events on... and to that end we've decided that our first event will be an ANZAC themed show at 2pm on Sunday 27th April 2025. Details are being discussed amongst the group and will be finalised soon...
