Another Army Chinook just flew over, about the same time as yesterday.

Thankfully I’m not listening to the broadcast talking heads. Rick Rizz is doing his best to make sure we don’t all give up completely on the team.

It looks like there was a #heron mini vacation because Hank is back! Started in his usual spot but there has been a Canadian goose invasion, which I think he’s finding annoying.

He flew off to another location that is quieter and I got a few photos of him there. The first one I call “Find Hank."

I was surprised too. Vega is originally from BC but I think they were bought.

I have a big jug of Orgain plant-based that I’ll reduce my use of. It so easy for a smoothie in the morning though.

Historically, though, much of the pea protein used in U.S. food production is imported from China, according to data from the U.S. International Trade Commission.

3. Vega told CR the product has been renamed Vega Protein + Recovery and that the company had changed its pea sourcing to North America.

"Although there were some exceptions, products made with plant-based proteins generally tested higher for lead than those using meat- or dairy-based sources.”

The footnotes go into more details.

"Lead could enter pea protein at the manufacturing plant, when the dried peas are dehulled and ground into flour, depending on the type of machines and metals used, says Goldman.”

"All the plant-based powders CR tested relied on pea protein as a main ingredient.”

I suggest you read the article. It goes into detail on answers to your questions. It looks well researched but I’m also not a scientist. Maybe someone who is better at analyzing studies will comment. I’m skeptical of consumer facing health articles but this is a good reminder whole foods are better.

I hate how much of a pessimistic I’ve become but we have seen SCOTUS reliably rule in favor of whatever benefits the current administration and all white people. It’s heartbreaking to watch.

This person is being held in a Washington state jail. Why is WA state aiding ICE in the unlawful detention of protesters?

Today’s #BirdofTheDay theme is #Reflections.

I couldn’t decide between these two so you get both. They were taken on the pond behind my house. Birds love to gather there.

Two Mallard ducks and my Great Blue Heron friend, Hank.
Two mallard ducks flying over blue water. A Great Blue Herons taking off from the shore. You can see his reflection in the water.

I heard a very large chopper go over my place in the Issaquah Highlands about an hour ago. I didn’t see it but my cats were like, wtf?

Another beautiful fall day. I had to get outside for a walk while the weather cooperates.

So….if there are people in line behind you waiting for customer service, that is not the time to insist the customer service person have a social conversation with you.

I’ve been thinking of getting a little one. This is so cute!

I live in the Seattle area. I read herons don’t typically do a full migration because our winters aren’t harsh. We do get cold and occasional snow.

Would they move to a watery location near their summer place? There are very large lakes and the Sound nearby that are less likely to freeze.

I haven’t seen Hank or Hazel Heron in a week. Maybe they found a new fishing hole for the colder months.

Fingers crossed they didn’t go far away and will be back.
