Only if we understand, we care.
Only if we care, we will help.
Only if we help, will they be saved.
Danke, Jane Goodall, für all das, was du getan hast. Du warst die Stimme der Schimpansen.

Took my PhD worries on a hike and they couldn‘t keep up.

Catch Chet'la Sebree on tour for her poetry collection Blue Opening (9.16.25).💙✨

“These poems wrestle w/ the cosmic without losing sight of the personal….Wistful yet undaunted, this collection forges new beginnings out of elegy.”

Honoured to have presented my work on critical whiteness as part of the Black Literature and Culture in German panel, thoughtfully curated by @kirstingwyer.bsky.social, at this year’s

It has been such a pleasure to host this podcast for the past three years.

I am so happy to be part of the OGN team, now for three years, which makes it one of the most important and valuable and still exciting elements of my PhD journey. I arrived as an academic baby and now I feel like I can do this thing. I love challenges that allow you to grow.
Ganz herzlichen Dank - many thanks to all those who made this year's Oxford German Olympiad Prizegiving Ceremony possible with their contributions. It was a pleasure to welcome you all to Oxford!

This is Granta 172: Badlands.

Our summer edition traverses inhospitable terrain, from troubled childhoods to drone-infested Ukraine.

The issue publishes on Thursday 17 July.

We use @ursulakleguin.com as a portal for our conversation. Particularly the lines: “One way to stop seeing trees or rivers or hills only as a natural resource is to class them as fellow beings—kinfolk. I guess I’m trying to subjectify the universe, because look where objectifying it has gotten us."

For our new series, Dead to Me, we invited authors to write about friendships that have blown up, broken down or slowly eroded.

First up, Sophie Kemp on playground politics in suburban American.
