Finished Han Kang‘s The Vegetarian and am sadly underwhelmed.
All this man can say is: Okay and I do not know. A sad, sad portrayal of masculinity, where the protagonist never learns anything, has no empathy, has nothing to offer to the people around him, has no original thoughts and barely any values. Why this book?

It has the worst dialogues, I have ever read, there are no insights, no merits in the use of language, no amazing construct of a story, no exploration of being a human, no plausibility, that a man that thick and underdeveloped, ever getting the attention let alone the marriage to a super rich woman.

Just finished Flesh by David Szalay.
The Economist, which I greatly respect, described it as:"
'deceptively complex work which finds original ways to explore masculinity, intimacy, class decides and power struggles."
It DOES NOT!
