If there are big pieces or certain types of clay that I know are susceptible, I purposely go out so I can’t open the kiln until it’s less than 100 degrees.
When the kiln is about 300 degrees, I have my husband pull open the lid so I can take a snapshot really fast. Then I blow up and analyze the photo.

Hmmm, the brain is engaged with new ideas….
I’m super excited that my work will be available starting Nov 21 at the DC Maker’s Guild’s booth at the Downtown Holiday Market! One line I’ll be selling are agateware soap dispensers. Each is unique but I’m proud of all of them.

More photos from the #nokings protest in DC.
so lovely -- and so skillful! Thanks for sharing.
Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors?
Throwback Thursday: I’m working on making pieces for the holiday markets. If only I could find the notes of what glaze combo I used on these…

I’mcalling this the green nipple.

Glaze are both Spectrum — textured kiwi with dots of muddy waters. Fired to cone 10. I counted on it being runny but apparently I had a slight high spot in the middle of the bowl. Still, cone 6 glazes at cone 10 are lovely.

I tried to call WJLA, the local Sinclair-owned affiliate in DC, to express my disgust at their decision to pre-empt @jimmykimmel.com. Shockingly, no one answered the phone. I did get through to the news tip line, which said all emails to [email protected] will be forwarded to the general manager.

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.
These are tough and scary times, particularly in Washington DC. But we are a resilient, vibrant city that is full of joy, art, music and a sense of community.
These events, and so many more, are happening despite the occupation and siege because #artisresistence.

I’ll be at Art All Night Mt Pleasant Friday (Sept 12) and at the Capitol Hill Art Walk on Saturday and Sunday. I’ll have smaller, easy-to-carry items for AAN and bigger bowls for CHAW. Some overlaps, but special items for each. More reason to visit both!

I see a fair bit on IG about both the Art Walk and Art All Night (I’m doing both for a crazy busy weekend) but agree not much here. I will be posting more today!
It’s still worth the trip. Now they have to rows and rows of paintings in those tiny galleries. Lots of hidden treasures. It would be lovely to have more patent models, though!
I forgot to mention!!! These bowls will be on sale this weekend at the Capitol Hill Art Walk. I will be part of a group of veterans outside the Hill Center. Hope to see you there!

Nesting pasta bowls.

The glazes are Opulence Antique Iron, with Spectrum’s Running Hot Chowder (since coat) on top and then dots of Spectrum Muddy Waters to create the lines.
