Reposting this video clip about my upcoming cassette release for reasons. It drops like a blade on oligarchs’ necks on Bastille Day 7/14! It’s an hour of experimental industrial doom and the soundtrack for Hot Commie Summer!p

So last night our home internet went down while my phone is currently out of mobile data until tomorrow. And we’re also in the middle of a move, so most of my books are in storage. Luckily I had a few oddballs around including this one that I bought used mainly for the cover. 1/
A hardcover book called “Terrorist Chic - An Exploration of Violence in the Seventies” by Michael Selzer. It has a picture of a woman’s hand holding a Japanese hari kari knife by the blade and an ornate metal bracelet around her wrist.

Making a Bandcamp account and following musicians is incredibly important! Bandcamp allows artists to export their mailing lists - it’s difficult to build and maintain an audience when we don’t own our platforms and social media networks are temporary. Bandcamp’s community features are essential.

Its that time again that we ask all non-musicians to do one thing to try and help the community out.

Join Bandcamp.

We're not saying spend money, but just joining and be open to streaming or following some new music is so important.

Help be the change you want to see

While the author is extremely square, this is an incredibly entertaining read, like something out of a time capsule. And it is well written. I honestly wish it included some photos. I can’t wait to read his takes on Studio 54 and CBGB! 5/5

The chapter I’m currently reading is about fashion in both ads and window displays. Here are some entertaining excerpts… 4/
cumstance explainable in terms of the belt suspended from the ceiling, within which the neck is caught.
Up a few blocks, at Halston's, we find five glossy metallic mannequins attired in incongruously wispy and delicate evening gowns. The room is bare of furni-ture, but a portable TV set and record player sit on the floor. Someone has smashed them and a large number of champagne bottles that are also scattered around the floor. Brutal intruders, perhaps? Or just the girls having fun in their own special way?
These displays are striking, no doubt about it.
Along with the new wave of advertisements and fash-ion-magazine layouts, they have introduced a fresh ex-citement-in fact, sensationalism-to haute couture.
And according to The Wall Street Journal, they have also boosted sales.
What Gene Moore, a prominent display director, has to say about windows holds true of the other media, too: "Windows should give an emotional reaction of either pleasure or yuk! You know, there has to be an emotional reaction or else you're a failure."
Pleasure or yuk. Or, perhaps, pleasure and yuk: the pleasure of yuk. What is noteworthy, though, is the arbitrariness of this yukky pleasure and its basic pur-poselessness. You remember the images but not the objects to which they are attached. The ominous, sinis-ter, violent timbre remains in the mind long after you have forgotten what "the killer" shoes looked like or What clothes the ladies who are about to be shot by the fring squad at Bendel's were wearing. You not only forget these quickly, you scarcely note them at the time. He spoke in a thoughtful manner even as his remarks meandered from point to point. The current obsession with violence has a novel dimension, he re-marked, which is also reflected in fashion. In particular, terrorism appeals to the imagination. It is fascinating. And it has taught people that there's an end in sight for the world ...
"Yes, an end in sight for the world is what I said," Birch confirmed. "The violence in the world is going to go on and on until we all blow ourselves up or destroy the world. But the space program has shown us that there's another place, and so when everything ends here, we'll be able to go there—to some other planet or whatever-and start off anew. So we know there's a way out, and if that's the case, then violence is nothing to get all that upset about."

The first chapter was all about the gay leather scene in the West Village, with sex shops and bars that are most likely no longer there. The second chapter is about a couple of photographers carrying on in the tradition of Diane Arbus. The author questions their authenticity. 3/

So far it has nothing to do with actual violence or terror, but moral panic over pop culture in a New York City I was too young to experience. Here’s the table of contents. I’m still on the chapter about fashion. 2/

So I’m having all sorts of connectivity issues which is why I’ve been so uncharacteristically quiet on here. Currently typing this from the Bathroom at a Michael’s.
