On this Indigenous Peoples' Day, we recognize the area's indigenous Lenape, as I did on behalf of Manhattan East Community Association at Murray Hill Neighborhood Association's celebration of the 20th anniversary of 88 neighborhood structures placed in the National Register of Historic Places. ⁣

In 1984, President Carter was here on E. 6th Street to help restore Mascot Flats, his first project for @habitat for Humanity, an org. my dad volunteered with to help build houses.

Today to further St. Vartan Park garden beautification, sustainability, safety and upkeep, garden steward St. Vartan Park Conservancy hosted @TIAA employees.

TIAA and the Conservancy provided extensive mulching, weeding, composting, pruning and other enhancements
Yesterday, St. Vartan Cathedral and the Conservancy co-hosted their first joint community program—an engaging morning cathedral history session and park beautification. ⁣Thanks to all, incluidiong the church's vicar Davit Karamyan, who led the tour and helped plant many daffodil bulbs.
Tomorrow morning, St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral and St. Vartan Park Conservancy team up to host a complimentary Cathedral history tour and volunteer park beautification session. No registration is required.

This morning at Union Square, St. Vartan Park Conservancy's @kevokeefe.bsky.social received 275 daffodil bulbs plus hundreds of native-flower seeds to plant around St. Vartan Park this fall — part of @ny4p.bsky.social's annual Daffodil Project, a living memorial to the victims of 9/11 and COVID-19.

Fun community unity at the 17th Precinct Community Council's National Night Out Against Crime at Turtle Bay’s Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza—including at the St. Vartan Park Conservancy station where visitors of all generations seeded take-home basil plants and participated in other engaging activities.
Back by popular community demand, St. Vartan Park Conservancy tonight will host a free seeding activity with a take-home basil plant. The occasion is the annual National Night Out Against Crime event at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza on 49th Street between First and Second Avenues.

Nice seeing this monarch butterfly in flight and landing today in the St. Vartan Park garden, more than three years after the International Union for Conservation of Nature placed the species on the endangered list.
This morning, the eastern carpenter bee (here in the St. Vartan Park garden) became the 26th animal species tracked by St. Vartan Park Conservancy in the park. See all of the species at stvartanpark.org/wildlife.
