To me, the work and the practice are the same thing and the improvement is ongoing as long as the process is. It's hard to "practice" writing (i get what you mean though); i'm obsessive about getting better every day but the timescales that *show* it are much lenthier

It explains a lot, hen 🤣 i was born in 1980 but raised in the 50's by rock hard women of the oldest-school. Bacwards little gaff. All the pics Des posts of the 50s, 60s, 70s, old lasses with blue rinses and Berkley Reds and headscarves, any of them could be women I grew up around 🖤💪

Expanding a bit. Was sad reading Kool Herc's intro tonight cos he has a very spiritual and political idea oc what hip-hop is, and that it's not guns, money etc. Talls of it as a unifying global culture that brings people together, and he's right. But it's the bling and blow stuff that's done it

Yeah. I thought it rushed a bit right at the end - though i get his focus was on the eaeliesr days and development of it, and that's the bit i was most interested in - but it covered a LOT at the end in quick time compared to the minute analysis everywhere else. So maybe even starting there and

Dodge and Burn i bought purely on the title and the cover - this may sound dumb, but a book with artwork like that, there is a whole network of signifiers and inferred references that tells you exactly what's inside; and if you're the type whose eyes drawn to that kind of iconography you know
