For the world's smallest shorebird, The Least Sandpiper is aptly named. It weighs in at around the same as an AA battery - just over 20 grams.

This bird and plenty more in our Quebec Birding video, out tomorrow (Thurs) at 1pm Eastern.

Beautiful views over McLaughlin Bay yesterday morning when we were out birding - looking for some shore birds and any warblers that haven't abandoned us yet!

A distant line of autumnal trees, lit in golden dawn sunshine. In the foreground, a shallow lake reflecting clouds. A wide angled shot, exaggerating the effect of the streaks of altocumulus and altostratus clouds in verticle lines, running away from the viewer.

The "mighty" Brown Creeper weighs about as much as a handful of paperclips 📎
...but try watching a paperclip climb a tree! 🌳
Look closely at that rear claw - nature's grappling hook 🪝

Our birding trip through Quebec has begun. Hoping to pick up a lot of birds sighting to give our 350 Bird Challenge a kick... Here's a Least Sandpiper. Cute, but not a new bird for us!

We're heading to Quebec next week, hoping to add a few new #birds to our 350 Bird Challenge - and perhaps a few lifers. Content from Quebec coming soon!

While we are away, we can't edit videos. No new videos for a while. Please be patient Approx date for next video: Sept 25th.

Maybe because they flush prey and then have to change technique to catching it while it moves quickly, haphazardly, and in close quarters. Moving sight quickly would help, compared to the "binocular" vision most other birds have - which mostly use ambush techniques.

This is just my theory.

Had a go at photographing the night sky over the lake outside the cottage we are renting last night.
No remote and a cheap tripod and lens, but not too bad.
Think that's part of The Milky Way?

We're taking a few days to relax in Ontario's cottage country. Next video might be a little delayed, but we need a little rest after a frantic few months of birding (and filming and constant editing). Plus, it's a trip away for Sara's birthday.
