I'm a survivor of domestic abuse, an advocate for Survivors of Domestic Abuse, a lived experienced speaker and a Coercive Control Consultant.

Based in the Black Country but travel to have a coffee and conversation creating change around coercive control and its impact.
Coercive control escalates overtime leading to severe psychological harm. Without early intervention those experiencing it will become increasingly entrapped & isolated.

My ABC framework enables early detection of red flags, allowing timely support before the abuse intensifies.
Early intervention is critical in addressing coercive control due to its progression and cumulative impact. My ABC framework facilitates early recognition and response by raising awareness and reducing stigma.

A: Appearance
B: Behaviour
C: Conversation
Coercive control subtly starts off as care, charm charismatic, making you feel special, making you feel safe, warm and loved.

It puts you on a pedestal for the whole world to see how lovely the perpetrator is.

Telling a completely different story behind closed doors.
Good morning world 🌎

3 things about coercive control 👇

❌ It's the thread that runs through domestic abuse

❌ It carries on even when the person has left the situation

❌ It is also used against professionals and practitioners

❌ It's a subtle incidious crime
I support @naturewatch.org and their Protect Animals. Protect People Campaign.

The perpetrator I existed with stabbed our pet bird as a consequence for me - because I went to bed without him.

Perpetrators hurt pets in order to gain power and control 🚩

Being safe in an abusive situation is when we are still in the situation seeing exactly what the perpetrator is doing.

Feeling unsafe in an abusive situation is when we've found the strength & courage to escape & we can't see what's coming next.

They aren't your abuser/perpetrator.

They are abusers. They are perpetrators. They don't belong to you, you don't own them and you owe them nothing.

Let's change the script. Let's change the narrative. Let's change the language.

Coercive control can manifest through isolation, where the perpetrator restricts the victims access to friends, family and support networks leading to feelings of loneliness and helplessness.

If we aren't talking about coercive control we aren't talking about domestic abuse, it's there at the beginning & it's there at the end . It's the thread that runs through domestic abuse.

Remember coercive control & domestic abuse doesn't stop for the summer.

Think of all the children & young people who will be exposed to & experiencing coercive control & domestic abuse during the holidays.

Summer holidays do not cause domestic abuse 🚩
Most of the people wanting to create change in the domestic abuse sector are people with lived experience of the abhorrent crime.

The people with the power to create change don't have lived experience of domestic abuse.

To create real change, the two must come together.
Societies lack of acknowledgement to coercive control will never allow a resolution.
