How the hell are ADHD meds covered by insurance but the evaluation for the meds isn't?

Who's been diagnosed with ADHD and has prescribed meds?

I have an evaluation coming up (PCP and therapist both think I have ADHD) but I need an evaluation which they said likely isn't covered by insurance and may run around $1000.

Anyone have a different experience? :P

Chicken, fish, beans/rice, all contain protein and are whole foods!

And they probably don't contain lead. Probably.
