There have been 12 players to hit 3+ HR in a Postseason game.

There have been 16 pitchers to have a Postseason game with 6+ IP, 2 hits or fewer, 10+ K, and 0 runs allowed.

Only one did both on the same night.

Assuming all these numbers are correct, Raleigh's ball went 70 feet shallower than typical ball hit at this velo/trajectory, while Vlad's went 90 feet deeper. Topspin and backspin, man.

If you model swings as having a constant jerk you can get around having to use a spline fit for bat speed vs intercept point. Useful because splines and GPs take way longer to fit with batter random effects

Andrew Vaughn's home run tonight was the 49th in Brewers playoff history. It was the first to score more than two runs. (HT to @stathead.com)

With last night’s two HR’s, Cal Raleigh is now tied for the most two HR games in a season with 11:

Hank Greenberg (1938): 1st in HR, 3rd in MVP
Sammy Sosa (1998): 2nd in HR, won MVP
Aaron Judge (2022): 1st in HR, won MVP
Cal Raleigh (2025): 1st in HR, ?

Great article! You might find my pitch visualization tool interesting: gabes135.github.io/pitch-visual...

The site updates with the daily leaders in pitch motion (rise, sink, cut, and run), and I've noticed that Vesia routinely tops the IVB leaderboard.

This is outstanding, especially the comparison tool.

Stanek's four-seam w/ & w/o an additional ~2 inch of break. Note how long after release it takes for the difference to be noticeable. Good illustration of why it takes a while to lock in on a pitcher having more ride than expected.

Only 7 pitchers post integration have even finished in the top three in both! bsky.app/profile/stri...
Tarik Skubal is on pace to be the first pitcher to finish a season leading the league in both K/9 and BB/9. Only 7 pitchers since integration have even finished top 3 in both K/9 and BB/9 - Skubal is having a truly dominant season.

Distribution of total contract values in each of the Big Four sports leagues. Observations:
- Trout ran so Soto and Ohtani could fly
- The Celtics paid their Jay's
- There's Mahomes!
- NHL contracts are long, not so bad to be in the middle class
Distribution of annual player salaries in each of the Big Four sports leagues. Observations:
- Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani are in another realm
- Money is spread out in the NBA
- Dak makes more money than Mahomes?
- It does not pay to play hockey
