My elderly father had one of those early promotional mobile phone deals where it was just £10 for the phone and all calls for life.

It was quite fortunate as he'd definitely not have one of those ones you have to subscribe to.

I saw @pierrenovellie.bsky.social talk at a function and was impressed... so sought out the stand-up show (youtu.be/LiM8PwMzENg)... then read the book... then did the tests.... and then went "oh, now that makes sense"

Where are the figures from? How large/independent was the sample group?

I'm strongly in the against category, but without clear understanding of the figures they carry no value. It might just be a survey of remain voters for example

Especially as those that would be required to give their professional opinion would be in conflict with their professional body

It's frustrating too that there is no attempt to use multiple sound tracks on tv. I would like to have an alternative sound track with much reduced background music so my ageing ears have less to filter out from the dialogue. It's surely worse for people with significant hearing impairment.

@matoxley.bsky.social finally getting round to reading Stealing Speed. About 2/3 through, finding it fascinating and thoroughly enjoying it.

Never really considered before how much my 1980s 2-stroke fun was thanks to the Nazis.
