This petition is for Richmond in Melbourne, but I feel that Yarra Council should adopt 30 km/h speed limits all across the City of Yarra. c.org/HkrrX5B76K #Yarra #CarsKill @yarrabike.bsky.social @streetsaliveyarra.bsky.social #auspol

NY Times guest essay recommends the same thing as us—charge commuters for parking. The revenue can be used to improve access for everyone, it's the right thing to do!

Hugely beneficial changes are coming to Yarra's planning scheme, implemented by the state government, to reduce costly parking mandates, which will act to reduce housing costs and reduce the growth in traffic congestion. 👍 👏 🥰

Lovely to see a new wide, flat, smooth footpath 🥰 this one is on Cremorne Street in Cremorne. Will be even better in a few years as the trees grow!

Lovely to see a new kerb outstand, with bench seating, and plantings still to come 🥰. This one is on Green Street in Cremorne.

Thanks Council!

What an amazing Day 1 for the #metrotunnel !

Thousands of people showed up to see the new stations, ride the trains and have a look around.

Everyone I've spoken to had lots of good things to say, with hopes for the improved public transport services that this […]

Here's a suggestion for a pocket park on Rowena Parade, near the corner store. What do you think?

Infrastructure Victoria is clear—better connected and safer cycling infrastructure is needed to support more Victorians to ride.

#Melbourne trams spend a huge amount of their time just waiting for traffic lights.
Traffic light priority would mean faster trips, more competitive travel times, and even enable more frequent tram services with the current fleet.

This engagement in Stonnington is a preview of future service reviews in Yarra, e.g. should we cut some of our services, or instead grow our revenue, so we can deliver our aspirations?

It's tough to find a parking spot in Vienna, and they're continuing to reduce the number of spaces! Lots of interesting stuff in this video:

Let teachers park.

Some people, including some teachers, need to drive and park; it’s a reality that we need to accept, and plan for.

Council is conducting a feasibility study for a redevelopment of Richmond Library. This is great news, we suggest that the study should consider beautiful, traditional architecture comprising six stories without setbacks, as can be seen in London and Paris.

This is an awesome report, full of evidence and actionable recommendations to help kids walk to school. We urge Councillors to read it, and follow its recommendations, such as implementing modal filters to reduce the volume and speed of motor vehicle traffic in the neighbourhoods around schools.

We need to talk about parking

Recently, each council meeting has touched on travails of finding parking. It’s a problem that we need to solve, and it’s a problem that’s been in many cities for decades, here’s a still from Dublin in 1969.

Great to see community access restored to Darebin Creek (the gate is gone)!

Are you envious of the 30 km/h zone in Fitzroy and Collingwood? Would you like to see something similar in Richmond? If so, there's something you can do!

“Forget EVs. Cycling is revolutionising transport… in cities that have made them mainstream, the idea of going back to car-clogged streets is considered ridiculous.” (Occasionally, like a stopped clock, they chance across a solid opinion. Didn’t even mention materials)
