this is doubly important if you have management or hiring responsibilities

learn to clock (neuro) ableist hiring practices, prejudices formed during work social hours, pushback to accessibility accommodations etc.

always push for a paper trail and inform those juniors of how to do this too

as someone now in a management position I find myself actively advocating for my juniors who had accommodations agreed in initial contracts but are now met with resistance when these need to be enforced.

for those of us in conventional employment: please double down on solidarity like this.

we also have to think about what makes the workplace inaccessible - physical labour is immediately obvious, but many less active jobs require a performance of willingness and ability to commute or to crunch as a standard unspoken expectation even if it is not inherently part of the job

conversations like Nic's imo should be coupled with conversations about UBI, access to 'conventional jobs', disabled creatives, how in these dire situations can we prevent the bottom from falling out for those of us who have nothing else

for my part: not to say that all creatives can or should pivot to 'essential labour'

for each idealistic 'everyone should work only at their individualistic ideal' there are probably 5 or so artists for whom alternative work isn't an option

Someone needs to harvest crops, work in a factory, a power plant, in sewage, or move cargo etc. The thing i feel a lot of artists miss is that not all jobs have some kind of fulfilling individualistic quality to them, doing art exclusively as a job is a big ask, it has socio-economic implications

just did the opposite and scheduled like 15 emails for 11am (written at 5am today) so my boss would think I scheduled them on friday 🫡
