Looking at this makes me want to cry, yet I cannot figure out if the feeling is sadness, disappointment (that I haven’t tried this before), happiness due to it’s beauty, or simply confusion… or maybe it’s just my meds wearing thin today 😂 it could be that too! I’ll have to give this combo a try tho!

@bsky.app’s new application icon (v1.109 on iOS) no longer follows the proper theming in iOS 26 for Liquid Glass when it comes to colour tinting, transparency, or even dark/light mode… making the application icon look slightly out of place and abnormal! 🤔

Will this be fixed? @support.bsky.team

It’s not Frutiger Aero but any change from Apple is a good change at this point, as they’ve beaten the flat, monotonous, monotone nonsense into the ground for the last decade. Liquid Glass gives a “Bubble Window” feel rather than Aero though.

Hear hear! Things felt so much more premium back when it had gloss, dimensions, and character! Now everything is so lifeless and… bleak. Like, who sat down one day during the Frutiger Aero era and thought “damn, I sure hate colours… and I sure hate any dimensions past the 2nd. I’ve gotta fix this!”

That is very true… I just wish The Weather Channel had archived the olden stuff away, rather than trash it all. It was way too good to just discard. So much love, so much history… almost a piece of history at this point. The true foundation of what’s out there now.

The bottom box is labeled "IntelliStar 2 xD", and the two above it are labeled "IntelliStar 2 Jr". Each computer has a vent exposed for air flow, with a fan behind each vent. The bottom two computers have fans that emit a blue LED. The top computer has a fan emitting a pink LED. Each of the three has a blue LED for power indication on the front panel. Sitting on top of the third IntelliStar system is a bare metal computer, with its rear side facing the camera, exposing it's I/O. There are various interface ports on the left side of the chassis, and on the right there is an interface with two pairs of analog video ports. There is a plug for power input. This system is an Silicon Graphics "O2". On the right side of the photo, there is a weirdly shaped computer system with a dark blue shell wearing a "Silicon Graphics" badge on the front. On the bottom, there is grey foundation piece that holds the chassis together, labeled "O2" on the bottom left. There are grilles for a speaker. In the center of the photo slightly to the right, there is a grey metal box mounted inside of a black computer rack. This metal box is labeled "Weather Star XL, The Weather Channel" on the front and has handles on the left and right side of the box. There is a white label on the front. There are two holes for power and reset. Above that grey box, there is another "IntelliStar 2 Jr" box exactly as describe previously, this time located inside of the computer rack. It is wearing a pink sticker with the text "VBA 4". Above that system, there is a beige, vertically slim system labeled "The Weather Star Jr. It has 8 LEDs on the front, three of which are lit up green. Above that system, there is a grey box labeled "The Weather Star Jr Audio Alert", with 2 LEDs, one lit red. There is a The Weather Channel logo on the right.

I sometimes sit and think about all the lost graphical packages that @weather.bsky.social once used in the past, that we will never get to see again… lost to time, discarded. All the love they were made with, merely ephemeral… If only they had them archived somewhere.

Aesthetics have been restored with Apple iOS 26’s Liquid Glass, and this is why it’s worth having an iPhone… one step closer to reviving Frutiger Aero.

I learned a few days ago that digital data does indeed carry weight. I don’t mean mental/emotional weight (although it does that too). I mean, literal physical weight. The more backups you make, the more weight you’re adding to earth! I hope you’re pleased with yourself. 😒

This is all run within #VizRT on an #IntelliSTAR system by the way! I have really pushed it to its absolute limits! Something nobody has dared do, not even @weather.bsky.social! Imagine if TWC brought back Frutiger Aero, or adopted my Frutiger Emo! They'd better credit me if they do, hahaha 😂 😝
