It doesn't take much to make language person-first.....
"those failing ART" - is it the person's fault?!
"those on failing ART" - 'blames' the regimen not the person

Nothing will kill more children than the ongoing decimation of CDC, NIH, and USAID work to lift vaccine uptake in the US and world.

Child survival rose 75% in the last 50 years. Vaccines account for 40% of that. Measles vax alone was 60% of the benefit. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Because who doesn't love a good simulation of measles vaccination and herd immunity? www.theguardian.com/society/ng-i...
Watch how the measles outbreak spreads when kids get vaccinated – and when they don't
If you take 10 communities and run a simulation, it’s easy to see why we need as many members of the ‘herd’ as possible to get vaccines – before it’s too late

To be clear, human rights are not some form of privileges that are “gifted” to people by those in power. The rights to life, to health, to security, to food, to water, to an identity, to live a life without discrimination, to freedom, justice, are inalienable, non negotiable rights. For everyone.

I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died but I was told, with the new drugs available, I could expect to live another 20 years.
That was 27 years ago.

Honour those we lost.
Celebrate that we can now treat and prevent HIV.
Make HIV stigma history.

Faculty mentoring in academic institutions, a thread.
As I advance in my academic career (read: as I keep getting more gray hair), I've come to appreciate, even more than before, the profound responsibility we (senior-ish faculty) have to support and nurture emerging talent, not diminish it.

USAID has improved rural climate change resilience since 2013; now the U.S. may cut that lifeline, with dire results for Zimbabwe’s poorest.
