I just wanted a break from not enjoying myself 🥹 ill go back to it when i do my second round of playing the inbetween games i didn't play (simon's quest, the gb games, dracula x, kid dracula, and now harmony of disonnance) to give it a fair shot later. i'll do the 3d games sometime in the future too.

especially coming off of circle of moon that i also didnt like the look of, (although the feeling of playing the game in that as well as audio was perfectly good)

I definitely would have been more open to going through harmony if i didn't come off of a game that i already very much didn't like.

alright starting up aria of sorrow and jsut gamefeel-wise si very sotn, but sotn feels good so this also feels good to play. the visuals are also the best one out of the 3 LMAO i wish i stayed with harmony but i was not ready to play a game that i didnt enjoy the look, feel and sound of.

ok im dropping this because i feel like i wont enjoy it also the crunchy poop music is gonna drive me insane, ill come back later

why are the colours so washed out on harmony of dissonance.

although despite how cheesy and funny the dialogue was throughout the game i enjoyed it a lot and the many moments of nathan graves reading like a clueless idiot were some of my favourite parts personally. "? ?" "! !" "What !" "?" made me laugh every time.

all the previous games-- even super castlevania 4-- i'd say i'd be down to replay again some time in the future, this one is a hard no i never want to play this game ever again and only stuck it out to say that i experienced it.

i straight up did not like the game most of the time playing so im glad it's over, its not like there werent good parts of course though but its the parts that feel good throughout all the previous games (well, besides the visuals in this game ig.)

dracula took an incredibly long time to kill, likely because I was woefully underpowered and didn't grind at all. btw the number lies i used save states a bunch and spammed rewind constantly my steam time says 11 hours so that's how long it actually took.

see? he's so clueless all of the time you can't not give him an anime boy voice it's so funny "W H A T !"

Nathan Graves: "What !"

i think i'm ruining the narrative slightly by giving the characters generic anime boy voices in my head making it 1000x funnier but the dialogue or at least the translation is very goofy and nathan comes off as a fucking idiot 99% of the time lmaooo

hugh is spilling his heart out and you're going "?" you stupid dope nathan.

i think the game tricks you into thinking you should play fast and active because of the tight air control and run being given to you super early, i think playing slow as if it's a classicvania makes more sense despite the contradiction in messaging. maybe that's where i'm getting hung up on it.

Needing to grind to remain on level to the drab and boring tilesets and colours there's very little that holds my attention in a good way. The worst part is I think the emulation eats some of my inputs sometimes so the times I intend to slide under projectiles I instead jump directly into the enemy.

I don't even think it's the difficulty of the game that I'm mad at since I enjoyed dracula's curse so much but something about everything in circle of the moon just annoys me to no end, from the enemies going into spots where you can't hit them to the prominence of various status effects to actually
storse.bsky.social
Mostly a skill issue but this might be one of the most unfun games I've played in recent memory
storse.bsky.social
i guess the card system is neat but i've only been using it to mess with my whip since i havent been farming out the dss cards because again (not having enough fun to justify grinding)

im trying to find anything to redeem this game in my eyes but i just fluctuate from bored out of my mind to frustrated. tight controls is the only thing that comes to mind but that's not enough when everything else is gormless
storse.bsky.social
only thing i've been thinking (apparently im halfway through) is that i'm not having fun and that I want it to be over already. maybe i was too harsh on super castlevania 4 (i still don't like it either)

the status effects are sooo obnoxious, why did they give the marionettes curse? why does every medusa head turn you to stone now? what the fuck? and the blood swords, their hitbox is smaller than you would expect and are also in walls 90% of the fucking time this is such a nuisance

circle of the moon is quite fun to play but the visuals are so... disappointing? underwhelming? it almost feels like i'm playing a flash game or something visually (though i do love flash games)
