If I was writing a steampunk novel, I think I'd write it under the name Charles Dickenballs.

Yeah, it was so fucking weird... nightmarish at times and perfect at others. Definitely one of my best anecdotes, and you know how much I love those.

Other best gig was Swans at Koko when they were touring The Seer. That was as close to a religious experience as an agnostic can get.

I mean, Hello Spaceboy damn near killed the fuckers...
stoatie.bsky.social
"This isn't your first dead body, is it?"

"Well, no. I killed Jethro, AND Nigel, AND that badger". #TheArchers

Akram and Joy are very quietly the Tom Bombadils of Ambridge. They can do EVERYTHING and are secretly the most powerful people in all of Borsetshire. #TheArchers

Still resent the fact we didn't get NIN though.

I know the general convention is that a shit audience brings a gig down, but that was the rare exception.
stoatie.bsky.social
Yeah. A VERY weird gig. The fact that most of the audience left twenty minutes into a killer Bowie set was utterly insane, but fuck it, it was about as mental as you'd want the Outside stuff to be, really. One of my all-time favourite live shows.

While you’re bashing Christopher Columbus today, please try to be consistent and don't give other historical figures a free ride either:

Jeffrey Dahmer, for example, wasn't quite the loveable rogue that modern-day popular culture would have us believe.

Still, though. Bowie was ace, Morrissey sucked. The world was, for the most part, operating as it should.

Yeah, still got PTSD with that song.

RRRRRRIDGE RACER!!! also.

Wait, this is actually real? Jesus Christ.

Someone at the supermarket asked if I knew where the cheese aisle was and it was just pure instinct to give them wrong directions so there was more cheese left for me.

Yeah, when the trailer dropped apparently hits for doesthedogdie.com went MENTAL. Always scared (in a bad way) when a dog appears in a horror story, unless it's Laird Barron, because you KNOW that if the dog dies in one of his stories it's for a REALLY fucking important narrative reason.

Amazing film. Took 'em a year and a half to film it because he's the director's actual dog so he wasn't trained for movies and they weren't going to make him do anything he didn't want to so waiting for the right shots was a massive deal. So good.
stoatie.bsky.social
It was Good Boy. Absolutely fantastic, HARD recommend. I mean, it's a horror movie where the main character is a dog. They might as well have just put my name on the poster. That's, like two of my favourite things right there.

Wait, you mean the movie or the pub?
stoatie.bsky.social
Just occurred to me that the first things I did after getting out of the cardiology ward were go to the pub AND WATCH A FUCKING HORROR MOVIE. I'm such a twat.
stoatie.bsky.social
"That dog wasn't acting, they just filmed everything until they got the right shots". So... a bit like Martin Sheen at the beginning of Apocalypse Now then?

Like I know there are edgelord leftists out there who look down their noses at shit like No Kings but sorry you guys, the more mass protest looks fun and family-friendly, the bigger it gets and the better its chances of being broadly effective

Portland does not own the patent on inflatable animal costume protests, come on people
