Gentleman with a camera
The setting Wolf Moon from the back stoop. We will be hitting the road on another extended trip in a couple days & I thought this would be a good time to start a break from the SM scene. Y'all take care, have fun, and be kind to others.

A short recce to Zion this morning to check on an area I spotted during our last visit. Light on the temples/towers, & looking toward the canyon mouth, but not much in the main canyon where it stays shaded & chilly. Still, Zion, baby. Hard to argue w/ that. Nikon Df w/ 24 (7-frame pano)-85-50-50.

Had to wait a year to get back to this little hill in Mojave National Preserve to take this image as I didn't have the right gear the first time. I can see a stone face looking back. Bronica SQA, 80mm, Fuji Acros I, orange filter. #believeinfilm

First gear purchase of the year is complete. A used 6x9 film back for the Crown Graphic 4x5 from CatLABS. I pulled a roll of Begger Pancro 400 from the fridge for the initial test run. Should be fun, especially given the 6" of snow we received overnight.

New Year, new photos on the big wall. Nice to change things up from time to time. I like the similar tones of the color images against the stark b/w.

Three more from today's Zion visit. The frozen creek. Ice along the meadow & a big pine far above. (slow uploads before)

Thought I'd wrap up the year with a quick visit to Ben's Meadow in Zion. It was a chilly day w/ not much reflected light, but always nice to be out. Happy New Year everyone.

Another dune view from our recent Death Valley visit. This one a little closer in. D610, 85mm f/1.4, ISO 100 1/200 f/11 (not that all that matters).

A quiet morning amongst the dunes in Death Valley, but we were not alone. D610, Nikon 85mm f/1.8.

It was a cold morning up the hill. The hoped-for clouds didn't materialize so not much color. But still fun to be out early. Did I mention it was cold?

So this happened on our trip. My 28mm AF-D lens fell from the front pouch of my sweatshirt atop this 150' clay hill & rolled/bounced all the way down. I made a head first dive to try to catch it but came up just short. Yet, it survived & 1st photo was taken after I picked it up.

My wife is quite pleased to have a couple of her images from this fall's trip to Zion framed and displayed on the wall. The little x30 raw files can handle going all the way to 8x12. They look great & are a nice addition to the home 'gallery.'

The "(Early) Winter Circle Tour" is complete. 19 days, 1676.8 miles, 1639 digital images between Sue's X30 (584) & my D610 (1055 - plenty of panos, focus stack, HDRs to combine), 3 rolls of 120 film, and 45 pages of hand-written journal. I've got some work ahead of me.
