I mean— I wasn’t looking for another CRT but for $0.99 how could I pass this up? Apex GT2015DV TV/DVD combo. Very not bad picture for a dollar on S-video.
Apparently the chassis is RGB mod-able so that’s another project for the pile. I already have some Sunthar SCART boards lying around.

#earthbound runs a cool three hundred bucks loose. A copy of Mother 2 can be had for about 1/10th that price. These adapter boards cost me a few bucks each and the TSOP flash chip another $3, so all-in less than fifty to play on real hardware. Not too bad.

This is what I do in my spare time because there’s something wrong with my brain
Final Fantasy VI with the Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition rom hack
Original game is 24mb, hack is 32. So I just stacked the 4th chip on top of the third and wired its enable pin to the unused output on the 74LS139

I recently got a copy of Star Ocean for the Super Famicom and I was intending to replace the mask rom with a flash chip so I could patch it.
Well— someone else had the same idea but botched it. several ripped pads and disconnected legs. I just needed to add a few bodge wires and it works!

Pickups from #VCFMW
I grabbed some neat stickers, a couple SuperDisk disks, an Orion build-a-blinkie, a PCMCIA NIC (WITH dongle), a couple Pentium 90s and a 486 DX/33
Off the free pile I got this Gateway 486 (board only inside) and a decent little 13” TV with a component input.

The clear SNES from my table at VCF almost didn’t happen. I fried the CPU and work RAM accidentally the week before while troubleshooting another mod. I had never attempted swapping out one of these 100-pin QFP chips before, but it worked and ran perfectly all weekend.

I’ve… seen things you people wouldn’t believe at #vcfmw
I had an amazing time, talked to some super cool people, tabled for the first time at anything ever, and made a couple nice scores from the free pile.

No, Rob— we’ve been over this, you can only play Gyromite or Stack-Up and I don’t have all your other pieces.

Um…. Wow. This battery was starting to expand when I removed it from my Quadra 700 but I think it’s gone prompt critical

My #nintendo64 was randomly freezing— especially with the expansion pak installed. I did a recap and found the originals were quite leaky.
Unfortunately the 220μf in my kit were just a little too tall so I had to replace with some other caps I had in stock.
Seems to be running well now!

Next up on the healing bench is this grubby-ass GameCube I picked up on eBay for pretty cheap.
Dead drive, but I bet it just needs a recap. If I can save the optical drive, I’ll do a PicoBoot— if not, we’re going full ODE.
