Former Republican who disavowed and left the GOP 15 years ago when it moved too far right, abandoned any principles, and became irredeemably stupid. Actually, come to think of it, I came here from Twitter for pretty much the same reasons.

Bluesky doesn't have pinned posts yet and the bio is only so long, so until then I'll use this post to state some of my interests & add to it in replies if I feel a need to expand on anything:

Tabletop Roleplaying Games (ttrpgs|D&D|RuneQuest|CoC), Archeology, Anthropology, Mythology, Astrophysics!

Right? Honestly, if I were the head of any sort of international organization, I couldn't trust the US to not kidnap and/or "disappear" several of my members right off the street during the event.

We should remember that the original metaphor was "one bad apple can spoil the barrel."

These Young Republicans aren't the bad apples that spoil the barrel. They are THE BARREL that have now BEEN spoiled.

The original bad apples are Trump and his band of racist, homophobic, misogynistic fascists.

We SHOULD care about not spreading such untruths like this, because this fake story also puts untrue words into the mouth of AOC as well as those cretins.
stevemnd.bsky.social
I'm pretty sure that never happened. On social media, people have been saying that this exchanged occurred between Ivanka and jasmine Crockett, not AOC. And even then, the only sources I see about THAT theoretical exchange looks to be fake Twitter threads and AI YouTube videos; no actual news sites.

And just in case people didn't pick up on it: even if it was framed as such, it WASN'T a joke.

These were said in a joking tone, but—just like all the unfiltered drivel that constantly sloughs off Trump's brain and out his mouth—they'd be absolutely delighted if any of it actually DID happen.
stevemnd.bsky.social
I mean, it's not the first time Trump's gotten rid of these types of professionals, so one can only wonder what the next plague that hits us will be? With RFKjr also in play, the mind boggles at the vast array of biocalamities that can—and likely WILL—hit us while we are woefully unprepared, again.

"I was shocked and disgusted to learn about the racist, anti-Semitic, and misogynistic comments attributed to members of the New York State Young Republicans, […] This behavior is indefensible and has no place in our party or anywhere in public life."

Dude, that ALL the GOP has been for YEARS now.

Fair, but training your eye sounds like something very useful, especially to us non-indigenous folks, who might not even realize we're missing anything in the first place. Thanks for the effort, regardless of whether or not it gets its own release.
stevemnd.bsky.social
Oh, is that—or something like it—available online anywhere? Or is that what you were referencing with future ideas?

That sounds like one of those "I might have been doing something wrong here the whole time, but wasn't aware of it because it wasn't even on my radar" sort of thing.
stevemnd.bsky.social
Heh. I do like that they're pulling pre-existing villains from earlier chapters that we've had to deal with, and fleshing them out, as opposed to just dropping new enemies crated fresh, however. Having those connections makes things more visceral!
stevemnd.bsky.social
Okay, did I miss something along the way? Is there another comic or two between this one and the previous "Keeping the Peace - Part 14"...? Or are those intermediate comics just for Patreons and not publically posted here with the others?

I think most all kids had some variant of that fear (much like many kids had a habit of daydreaming about something being alongside the car on long car trips). Mine was some giant scythe blade.

I think it may stem from an instinctual fear about having our body parts just hanging out in open space?

< There may still be one way to make sure these people are removed from power and face said justice/retribution, but I assure you, it isn't going to come from any legal institutions at this point. We've collectively waited too long for that approach to have any impact now.
stevemnd.bsky.social
< because this fascist regime is doing every illegal activity it can think of to make sure no "normal" method will remove them. And thanks to the corrupt Supreme Court, who have green lit all his activity, this regime will simply and gleefully ignore ANY legal consequences lower courts hand down. >
stevemnd.bsky.social
I agree 100% with the underlying thoughts behind this statement, but sadly, I would have had to stop after saying "No legal institution is going to hold Trump accountable."

Impeachment is a nonstarter, due to the GOP majority, who will refuse to convict. And the GOP will _remain_ the majority, >

You're not alone, and I suspect that's probably why they decided to just drop the "+" to begin with.
stevemnd.bsky.social
Huh. I was mildly impressed until it started praising Gronk.
stevemnd.bsky.social
I know someone posted a news article, but anybody can be quoted in an article. If they're legit, more power to them, but I would be hesitant without further verification. Such is the world we live in now, sadly.

Given that their social media accounts seem to be just a bunch of AI-generated clips of people in frog costumes (and their website is notoriously detail-free), I'm less inclined to believe their intentions are as noble as they claim.

< A huge number of people—many Dem politicians as well as voters on both sides—STILL mistakenly think that we just have to Tough It Out for another four years, and then things will get back to "normal."

So, until they finally come around, even the smallest bits of light shone on this regime helps.
stevemnd.bsky.social
I mean, I hate to say it, but… yeah. The majority of Americans STILL see all the damage and disaster being carried out by this "administration" to be just a _side effect_ of them being really, REALLY bad at governing, and NOT as the INTENTIONAL deconstruction of our government that it actually is. >
stevemnd.bsky.social
I like how this plays and sounds exactly like one of those pre-movie 'fun fact' screens that cycle through while people are still getting their popcorn.
stevemnd.bsky.social
While you're correct in that there may be bigger fish to fry, this regime's focus on slamming Indigenous Peoples' Day/emphasizing Columbus Day is still part of their larger ongoing plan to marginalize and/or dehumanize anyone who isn't white and male and cis and Christian, and should not be ignored.
stevemnd.bsky.social
Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

And remember, people like Trump and the rest of this regime want you to see their heroes—like Columbus—as these infallible demigods of white culture who could do no wrong and never spawned any problems.

Because if their HEROES can be shown to be flawed, so can THEY.
