Amen.
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
Follow the Bluesky list link, click on “subscribe,” and then select “block accounts.”
A bunch of US government accounts joined Bluesky last night, just before the No Kings rallies today. On Twitter, these accounts are known for using quote posts to direct their MAGA followers to harass people online. Use this list to block them all. Do not engage. Use “detach quote” if needed.

I read about this and had to try it myself. This is a screenshot of my phone after running the search “oreo spelled backwards” directly on Google. Check out the “AI” response.
I told the story on my MATLAB Central blog in 2006.

I no longer blog there because I retired from MathWorks in 2024, but I still write about MATLAB at www.steveeddins.com/blog/matlab

I'm glad you had fun with that, Bob! 😀
