The album I just listened to was ace, will definitely be going back to it.
Funnily enough I listened to Cleopatra Grip a few months ago for the first time in years. It didn’t really make an impact on me back in the day but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ha, yeah let’s not go down that route.
Well that’s the thing, I can kind of understand and have sympathy. All my vinyl was packed away at the time (early 00’s) and not even sure I had a turntable then. It’s only in the last 10 years it’s really annoyed me.
Sadly I don’t have it anymore…I lost a box of records in a house move years about 20 yrs ago. It had this, the Moose eps, Telescopes stuff and most gutting of all originals of Souvlaki and Storm In Heaven. I still go in the loft occasionally just to be absolutely 100% sure..still bugs me 🤷‍♂️🙄
Thanks, giving Things Come Apart a listen now 👍
Great shout, great album.
Those early Moose eps were great. I remember being really disappointed in …xyz at the time (no noise). It took a few years until I realised it was a really charming album. Love Storm in Heaven too, best Verve album and thanks for the rec on Blueshift Signal.
Yes! Curve were a great band. Wish I’d seen them live but never did. Like Stereolab but that’s been more recently..and Medicine I think I’ve only heard one track but will look them up, thanks 👍
Ah yes Kev! The only Revolver record I bought was the Venice 12”, must give this another listen.
Great album though at the time i didn’t really appreciate how good it was. Grown to love it retrospectively though.

For fellow 90’s gazers, aside from the big 3 (mbv, Slowdive & Ride) other fave albums from that era?

At the time think I’d have said Whirlpool, now i’d probably go Delaware but love ‘em all 🩶

A trip down indie memory lane back to 89/90. Live Birdland were a blast, 20-30 mins of chaotic high octane pop punk inevitably ending with a smashed up set. Not all their records captured that raw energy but Hollow Heart ep and the live freebie album sure do…fun memories 🙂
Hi Rich, my #5debutalbums8084 are:

1. In The Flat Field - Bauhaus
2. Murmur - R.E.M.
3 Script of the Bridge - The Chameleons
4 Dead Can Dance - S/T
5 Kilimanjaro - The Teardrop Explodes

Have a good w/e!
We’re a match today Carlos 👊
Very much so Peter, they were exciting times. I think 88-92 will always be my favourite period for music. I was at uni which obviously helped but there was so much going on.

Day 24

Revolution
Spacemen 3

Bought this based on an MM review and was blown away by it. Along with a couple of others in the late 80’s (mbv, House of Love) it opened up a whole new world to me.

Really looking forward to hearing the new one.

Day 23

Ashes to Ashes
David Bowie

My first memory of Bowie. At the time I had no idea who he was, didn’t know anything about his legendary 70’s albums, just saw this strange video on Top of the Pops and loved this song.
