When Shizuma met Giyu it was because Shizuma was helping some hunters (among the shadows) where Giyu detected him and there they started to fight, Shizuma's blood technique is to paralyze his opponent for at least 5 seconds, without the technique it is 3.

When several of the clones attacked her, one of them hit a metal bar, damaging her leg, rendering it useless.
