@jonathanrgoodman.bsky.social hey there! Any chance an audio book version of invisible rivals is on the way?
steadycooper.bsky.social
Awesome! Shoot me a Kickstarter link or some such if you've got one!

I've also got a very willing 10yo who says he'd be willing to provide feedback 😂
steadycooper.bsky.social
I would happily contribute to a Kickstarter or some such!
steadycooper.bsky.social
Oh? Any chance this is already happening?
steadycooper.bsky.social
I wish folks better at organizing and publishing than me, like @nikadubrovsky.bsky.social and @chrishaughton.bsky.social could figure out how to turn a book like People's History of the United States into a series of kids books like History of Information!
steadycooper.bsky.social
looking forward to it!

we talkin weeks? months? years?
steadycooper.bsky.social
any idea about an audiobook timeframe?
steadycooper.bsky.social
How could it be different?

Why the assumption that using ai would ship more, instead of the same with fewer workers?

Or the same features with the same workers but better maintainability (higher LTV of the software product)?
steadycooper.bsky.social
To date, this hasn't happened with, say, produce. People seem just fine having the same 5 apples available to them in every grocery store in the country :(
steadycooper.bsky.social
Unsure?
Maybe these will help!

Alrighty everyone! It's time for everyone's favorite game!

SCHOOL OR PRISON?!?

Honestly curious, would those affected pay with money or pay with wealth?

I /would/ claim to know enough to publicly make jokes about British bigotry with internet strangers 😂

Not much anymore.

I learned of Esperanto 25+ years ago and liked the idea so read some about its origins, creator, and modern "governance".

Maybe 7 years ago I joined a small study group and duo to try and learn enough for some anarchist fiction I was writing at the time. That project got shelved.

You asked to provide examples of "too much Polish", which is also an impossible question as "too much" of anything is the subjective judgement of an individual (which is, now ironically, why I believe it works in the humourous context).
steadycooper.bsky.social
Well, my implied point/punchline was that any amount of Polish influence (of which clearly there is at least some) would be more than enough to prevent the UK to choose to teach it in schools.
steadycooper.bsky.social
Ah, I see.

That wasn't my point :)

My point (which was also a joke btw) was that Esperanto is "too Polish" for people in the UK...in the context of the tweet I was replying to.

It's probably not funny if you took it seriously or if you don't understand the implications of being Polish in the UK.
steadycooper.bsky.social
Wow...I'd forgotten all about this today.

Clearly it's continued to be on your mind 😂

What do you think my point was?
steadycooper.bsky.social
Mmm... Hemingwayesque 😂
steadycooper.bsky.social
Too much Polish in Esperanto for the UK to allow that 😂 😭
steadycooper.bsky.social
What's the book about?

Also, as someone who's read a few translated old texts, please consider keeping track of or adding footnotes when you make a translation choice that could be other words and share why :)

I believe the US is just not at the "sacked by the Visigoths" stage of collapse.
