"Andy Ngo and other far right extremists have been targeting Avalos since at least as early as July and trying to paint her as violent and a 'member of Antifa.' On court record, Ngo has admitted that his social media posts can lead to violence."

It's projection from the right. All the way down.
Portland City Councilor @counciloravalos.bsky.social woke up to her car and home engulfed in flames late last night. She had to grab her cat and escape to safety.
let the disbarments begin!
Break the law, face the consequences. That goes for ICE agents who commit illegal acts outside of their official functions.

If you post a screenshot of a ChatGPT or Google AI claim to prove a point, you should automatically lose whatever argument you're having. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

It is meaningless.
someone with more tech knowledge than me will need to answer that, alas... but just off the top of my head that would seem to make sense.

and i wonder if we're not very far from tech that can render vpns identifiable/useless, if it doesn't exist already... 😕
you're welcome, i learned something too!

Cost of living isn't too bad unless you want to live indoors
People did warn me when I was younger to pursue high-paying fields, and I always shrugged them off. I thought, “I’m not a materialistic person, I don’t want to live in luxury—I’ll be fine making a modest salary. Money’s not important to me.”

Turns out you need a shitload of money just to be broke.

I'm old enough to remember when parents groups put warning stickers on CDs because they worried suggestive lyrics might lead to anything from drug use to teen sex to suicide.

But if a robot explicitly takes you through the steps rather than a subtle Judas Priest lyric, I guess it's okay.
Here’s where it gets personal for me. When I was 9, I started experiencing suicidal ideation … disinterested in living, and at least some of the time contemplating death and how it might happen … It’s easy to imagine how I would have used programs like these chatbots.
Perry: How can AI be used ethically when it’s been linked to suicide?
"It’s not on us, on you and me, to use AI ethically or responsibly. It’s on the companies to build safe, reliable, ethical products," David M. Perry writes.

ninja chickens! so well camouflaged :::admires:::
and also because it fits right in with this, with the implication that warrantless & widespread surveillance of anyone & everyone is legitimately something they intend to pursue, against their own populace.

as someone who has never attended any reunion i am happy to live vicariously through you and am chuffed that you & your bff had such a good time (and cake) 😎
i would think it matters to anyone who feels that the government and law enforcement should, in fact, follow the law and not illegally and in violation of the constitution collect any potentially identifying information about people who are not committing any crime, and without a warrant to do so.
oh wow i have not felt this cheated about not getting more YOI in a loooong time 💜🖤
Some cell-site simulators may have advanced features allowing law enforcement to intercept communications. "
and without needing to involve the phone company at all. Cell-site simulators can also log IMSI numbers, (International Mobile Subscriber Identifiers) unique to each SIM card, of all of the mobile devices within a given area.
Cell-site simulators operate by conducting a general search of all cell phones within the device’s radius, in violation of basic constitutional protections. Law enforcement use cell-site simulators to pinpoint the location of phones with greater accuracy than phone companies
the relevant blurb: "Cell-site simulators, also known as Stingrays or IMSI catchers, are devices that masquerade as legitimate cell-phone towers, tricking phones within a certain radius into connecting to the device rather than a tower.
