I'm going to share a story that brought me great joy and if you haven't heard it it might bring you some mirth this cold evening. It's about the patron saint of atheists.

"Ireland thought it could move on from its painful history, that we had left it behind once a workable peace was achieved.

We did not know that we would have to keep talking about it, not for ourselves, but for others." 👇

History Repeats Itself as British Authorities Get to Decide Who the Terrorists Are
A member of Kneecap has been charged with a terrorism offence, but those in power continue to look away from the deeper crisis, writes Toner Quinn.

An image that should haunt and shame us all. A Palestinian mother trying, against all odds, to protect her children as hell rains down on them from Western-backed Israeli terrorism.

"An Garda Siochana and CSO figures show that no causal link between immigration and any form of crime or delinquency has ever been recorded in Ireland. What they do show is a 12% uptick in hate crimes between 2022 and 2023, and a massive surge in misinformation surrounding migrants and criminality."
This week I wrote about vigilance, and how I'm less interested in litigating whether Garron Noone is a racist, than in whether what he said was true or not. It wasn't. And people are right to be alarmed that he said it, and to wonder why he did.

Séamas O'Reilly: I think anti-racists are right to be on high alert
I’m less concerned with why Garron Noone said what he said, than with whether it’s true or not

Two cheeks of the same arse
This is such a wonderful thing to see.
I find this very moving: a 10-year-old Ukrainian boy who moved to the West of Ireland 2 years ago as a refugee, speaking in Irish of his love of playing Irish music
Ahh mo chroí! What a bright, wonderful kid. Love this
Historically at least #FineGaels attitude is consistent though.
It's a magical place. This was me the first time I ever went there... absolutely stuck to the ground lol
Oh RTE I will never pay a license for this kind of shite. We're long past McQuaids Ireland now. Go peddle this nonsense elsewhere.

The indefatigable Ailbhe Smyth 🤩

Such a brilliant communicator & radical whose work was integral to women’s liberation & the transformation of Ireland. We live in a healthier, more welcoming place for women. The fight for fair transition goes on 💪🏾✨

Broke: Spring starts on March 21st
Woke: Springs starts on February 1st
Bespoke: February is best imagined as a liminal space between Winter & Spring, which allows us to access a premodern sensibility. In this Irish Studies essay, I will interrogate contemporary constructions of Imbolc…

The Irish festival of Imbolc, celebrated on Saturday, February 1st, is a time to welcome the first stirrings of spring and honour the goddess Brigid. It's a festival of renewal, fire, and fertility, marking the midpoint between the dark of winter and the light of spring.
This is our year, sisters ❤️
There is no solutions I have to offer. But there has got to be some way, some national protocol that can be developed for situations like this.
It was miserable and difficult and everything took so much more cold effort than anything else but there are so many more still without. I am so concerned about how anyone with additional needs or very young kids would cope. We immediately became so isolated with no power, no Internet and no phones
The lights came back on today after nearly a week of no power. The water came back about seven hours later. We are better off than most, we had camping stoves, gas and many torches but nothing that would last beyond a couple of days. #StormEowyn #WildWest

Hundreds of thousands of homes without power, water, phone coverage; trees down all over the country causing road blockages, a young man lost his life in Donegal when a tree fell on his work van... and this cunt thinks it's a joke. Made a fortune from RTE too, if I remember correctly.
