UK #NewWave band #King’s 1985 debut single “Love & Pride” stalled at #84 but after a TV appearance 9 months later, it was re-released & held at #2 for 3 weeks staying in the UK Top40 for 10- it found little success in the USA, but was a Starck fave

#IanMcCulloch fought to stop Sire from releasing UK #NewWave band #EchoAndTheBunnymen’s 1987 “Lips Like Sugar” as a single fearing it would fail- he was part right, it didn’t chart on the USA Hot100 but hit big at #StarckClub where it became a much beloved classic
