Thanks to the dedication of our incredible network of citizen scientists, an amazing 51,514 individual animals were recorded in 2024!

Every sighting adds to our understanding of whales, dolphins, and porpoises, helping us protect these species and the oceans they depend on!

Another interesting thread from @beavertrust.bsky.social
Worth giving them a follow
A Winter’s Diet

When winter settles in and the riverside salad bar shuts down, beavers transform from grazers into wood-chewers. Their summer diet of lush aquatic plants and soft greenery gives way to bark, twigs, and phloem-rich fibres from willow and other riverside trees.

These dolphins are large, powerful and known for their energetic swimming and distinctive markings.

They have a short beak (not always fully white), a pale grey 'saddle patch' that sweeps from behind the tall, curved dorsal fin towards the tail, and a pale blaze that stretches from the tail!

Desert Wheatears are tough & lovely Wheatears and probably used to harsh conditions on their breeding grounds
I was fortunate to make it over to the Fleet Bridging Camp this afternoon, just as the sun was setting, to take in the Desert Wheatear found an hr earlier by Brett. My 1st of this lovely spp in Dorset, & in the UK overall for a long time, braving the gale like a trooper @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
