Attacking alleged drug traffickers off coast of Venezuela after years of blaming China for fentanyl overdoses in U.S. is the bloody equivilent of choosing to search for your lost car keys, not in the dark where you dropped them, but within the beam of a street lamp cuz the light's better!

FYI for BC residents, if you want a COVID booster/flu shot, I was able to search in my emails for a previous "Book your next vaccine appointment" from a previous year and click on the link and it just let me schedule my covid vaccine.

Not to quibble but thieves will steal anything of value. Bitcoin is no more conducive to criminal abuse & fiat currency is no less conducive. $15B of Bitcoin seized sounds unprecedented til you put it beside the $65B that Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme (taken down in 2008) is estimated to have stolen.

Bill Bryson's entertaining historologue "One Summer: America, 1927" (2013) covers the 1st U.S. Red Scare which occurred in early 1920s & had 2025 parallels aplenty.

1920s Antifa were immigrant Anarchists & rightwing govt sent police & soldiers into many cities to fight a non-existant coup plot.

"At 6:30p.m., Sgt. Steve Addison told 1130 NewsRadio the officers were investigating a “sudden death in the area.” We have requested further information."

It's true that disposable, single-use paper cups only became a thing AFTER the H1N1 pandemic (aka, Spanish flu) of 1918-21. The Dixie Cup was introduced in 1907 but didn't take off in popularity until 1919.

I know the building well. They recently finished major re-landscaping. The pop-up parklet in 1500 block of 13th makes that a pretty quiet spot. Hope it's not a death but that's what white tents usually signify. Awful enough Vancouver has already seen a 21-year high of 22 culpable homicides in 2025!

16 hrs since the large, 6-car, @vancouverpd.bsky.social presence was reported at 13th & Granville, in #Vancouver's Fairview neighbourhood. Still no update by City News or police & no pickup by other local media. Article's mention of a police tent is ominous!

Elder #Vancouver friend phoned to say they'd received email saying their cloud storage was susended cuz payment method expired. Email incl. link to update payment info (!). My friend pays for iCloud & gets quite rattled each time they receive 1 of these clumsy #phishing emails.
