Enjoyed this. I wrote a review of the field about digital fan practices and transnational fandoms in Latin America this summer for an edited volume (not published yet), so fascinating to listen and see comparisons and contrasts in the issues discussed between African and LA fans of European soccer
⚽ New #FootPolPodcast!

Why do millions of Africans back European clubs?

We talk to Dr. Manasseh Chiwesha & Dr. Solomon Waleola about fandom, identity, betting & how African fans made global football their own.

whooop whoop! this is such a great result for @livunipress.bsky.social and OtF: publishing books OA at no cost to reader or author through the combined power of library member investment (who also get some books for their own library in return win/win/win really)
Another one for @drpetewatson.bsky.social! In this blog he discusses why to publish a book Open Access and how this means his readership has increased and his book has been included on a number of university reading lists across the globe. Football and Nation Building in Colombia (2010-2018) 👇
We're really grateful to @drpetewatson.bsky.social for sharing his experiences of publishing Football and National Building in Colombia (2010-2018) with @livunipress.bsky.social, enabled by Opening the Future funding. For the full interview, please see here! ⚽ copim.pubpub.org/pub/football...
