Do we really have three more years of this insanity? Living through this god-awful period of American/world history is like being on a deserted island and feeling no one is coming, at least not for three years.

What's really almost funny is how these self-styled individual-freedom warriors are really modern-day Puritans, wanting to impose their rigid lifestyle choices on everyone. Not to discredit Puritans, who at least were authentic in their religious fervor, cultivated virtue, and believed in community.

A recent NPR nterview dramatized public health's failure to counter anti-vaxxers. A medical expert explained the insanity of RFK's curtailing regular Hepatitis B vaccinations. But to newborn parents she advised only: do your own research/consult your doctor. How about: give your baby the damn shots.

Any agreement to pause the Ukraine war MUST include: no bar of Ukraine's joining NATO; no reduction in its army; full provision of foreign troops to prevent further Russian invasions; full return of Ukrainians kidnapped by Russia. Without these elements, it is a sham treaty, period.

I don't see Musk or Medvedev calling for the dissolution of the Commonwealth of Independent States or the end of Moscow's influence over post-Soviet republics in the name of sovereignty.
This is so perfect. No one have any doubts at this point about what Elon Musk really represents.

So President Grump says “affordability” is a a Democratic scam not long after effusively praising Mamdani, who ran on that issue.

Reading the latest vile, racist tweets of #Elon Musk, I think it’s high time for a boycott of the businesses that continue to advertise on this hateful man’s website, and long past time for everyone with any decency to stop engaging on his dark platform. Enough is enough.

RFK Jr: "Two weeks ago we ended, under your leadership, a twenty year war on women".

Three out of five men in this shot have been accused of sexual misconduct, harassment or abusive behaviour towards women. A fourth signed into law a near-total abortion ban in his state as governor.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the nation’s esteemed health officials are busy dismantling the vaccine system that has kept generations of Americans safe from deadly and debilitating diseases.

Still waiting for a story about Trump’s deployment of Jared Kushner, a private citizen with no diplomatic credentials - and with an obvious conflict of interest as his son-in-law - as a US negotiator, first in the Mideast, now in Russia -Ukraine. I mean, is this even legal? Why is this allowed?

The New York Times asks its readers for private donations to undo GOP cuts to education. A better idea: donate money to Democrats, the party that supports public education.

Heidi Stevens: After Trump’s ‘Quiet, piggy’ moment, we’re done asking why survivors don’t come forward, right?
If we’re going to become a nation that truly protects children and women, we have to stop giving a pass to sexual abusers, writes Heidi Stevens.

Curious as to why the New York Times allows reader comments on only a relatively small number of stories, and why it puts such a tight time limit for those postings. These comments (not the inane MAGA ones) are often insightful and well-written, so odd the Times would want to limit them this way.

You can skip the dreary David Brooks column, whose grand theme is we should all love our country unconditionally, blah blah, blah, and just go straight to the reader comments, many of which are truly first rate pushbacks.
