Cheers, I will…

I’ve just read this excellent piece on Kinski who was a problematic character but still a very compelling actor and orator; I’m intrigued how you can capture in novel form an exploding volcano of a man like him in JCK?

@barrabest.bsky.social hi, I’ve just watched and enjoyed Walk The Line; do you know if there will be another series?

@secondrun.bsky.social hi did I dream it or is Second Run bringing out a blu ray of Marketa Lazarova this year?

@markcousinsfilm.bsky.social hi, great to see the Scene by Scene interview with Donald Sutherland on BBC4 the other night, I really miss that kind of TV which seems to have vanished completely.
Do you believe public service TV like the BBC and C4 should still be making programmes like that now?

Is there any scope for a tax or transactional charge on the accountancy companies that help the rich hide their money away from taxation?
spen01.bsky.social
Oh no, I left it too late. :(
Thanks for getting back to me

Hi, will you be getting any more stock for: The Landlord and A Quiet Place in the Country?

@robburl.bsky.social hi, just finished “Why is this lying”… excellent stuff: I’d recommend it to everyone.
My thoughts:
It made me nostalgic for the Weekend World days
The Electoral Commission should insist on election time TV interviews for all
I’m sorry about the last chapter, hope all goes well.

It’s an excellent surreal film; under appreciated imho. Perfect to watch late at night.
Burt Lancaster is great in it but it is Eleanor Perry’s screenplay that makes it stand out.

By a beautiful piece of synchronicity I’ve just re-read the Great Gatsby and I’m reading Sarah Churchwell’s excellent analysis of the book and its roots called Careless People; apparently one of the book’s working titles was: “Trimalcho in West Egg” which has to be one of the worst book titles ever.

No, it’s all performative; he has no intention of taking action against Russia
spen01.bsky.social
From a Russian perspective you might argue it’s mission accomplished: a man is in charge in America who is destroying the economy and its international relations with just about everyone

…and both called Daniel…

Maybe there are twin Daniel Hannans?

Oh, that’s strange, I thought Trump said it would all be sorted out in 24 hours?
Ah, no, of course he only said that because he’s a lying, attention seeker who thinks he can win the Nobel Prize for Peace so he can “beat” Obama.
spen01.bsky.social
Hmm, Trump is not an honest broker so why put faith in him?

Witkoff should step down immediately as he doesn’t appear to be competent; he’s making so many incorrect statements it’s embarrassing
spen01.bsky.social
I agree but the approach seems to be that the leader won’t condemn anything unless it’s attack on himself
spen01.bsky.social
Okay, thanks I will see what I can find; I’m always intrigued by unfinished work whether it’s literature or film

@michaelchabon.bsky.social hi I believe Wonder Boys was developed as a result of an unrealised novel called: Fountain City. May I ask: does Fountain City exist in any form or was it just an idea?
spen01.bsky.social
Fixed it:
The Republican Party now has more in common with Russia than Washington does with Brussels or with Kyiv.
spen01.bsky.social
I’m just watching Wonder Boys right now; it’s one of my favourite films
