It's simply light dancing in ice crystals when the air is bitter cold, but the visual and metaphorical beauty found in a pillar of sun on a winter's evening is special to behold.
Took greenery pots to the plots today, teared up a bit chatting with the folks of the good times we had at Xmas. After the men were gone, mum and auntie had both lost their short-term memories, I’d take them out shopping because gift-giving was still important to them. Tidings of chaos and joy. ❤️🎁

I wrote a poem to celebrate this day in the northern hemisphere, the start of the slow but sure return of more daylight.

Well, we had a nice party and feeling very lucky to wake up to power (especially looking at the outage map). We left a pony panel and wood insert behind at the former place, all things considered power is preferred. Still a bit gusty here but sunshine and blue sky peeking through. ☕️🙏🏻

Glasses of wine poured, lanterns and battery generator at the ready, hor d’oeuvres and supper pre-made, window candles lit (also battery), guess we’ll proceed with our annual post-retirement corporate Christmas party as planned. There’s just the two of us, so… 😊🎅🧑‍🎄🥂🍤🎶🎄

Glad I took a few photos of the snowy trees while it lasted. The tall pine on the right has an old man winter look at the top (to me) especially when it sways in the wind, quite majestic.

"Gnome for the Holidays". I'm not an artist but my easel and art supplies found a space to live in our new house so I may dabble more often, I find it absorbing and relaxing. I followed a video for this cute gnome, it's 16x20 acrylic, we hung it on the wall for the holidays. And it snowed!

Stopped at the fish truck today, they had fresh haddock on board so now looking forward to homemade Fish Po’Boys for supper. Leaning to Lobster Mac ‘n Cheese for our traditional Xmas Eve Something-Seafood-Special-Supper this year (yes, I really am a South Shore girl). 😊🐟🦞

Yesterday was a fine day to hike and forage in the woods for holiday decor.

Blue moon in the morning sky, a moment of clarity between the blustery snows.

Time to share this old chestnut we created for fun ten years ago, a reminder that the stress of the holiday season can be eased with some humour, perhaps you can relate. 😉🎅🧑‍🎄🎶

Intense cold, intense colour. If this keeps up we just might get a white Christmas this year?

Remember when ballpoint pens were all the rage with astronauts? Bought a ten-pack to have around for quick notes, tried everything, not a drop of ink in a single one. Ten pieces of plastic garbage. And this is progress? I’d write Paper Mate but… M says at least it saves on pocket protectors. 😤👵🏻😆

Girlfriend day in Mahone Bay on the weekend. Browsing the shops, mingling with the life size decor and real life Father Christmas, lunch at Betty’s At The Kitch. A few gifts and goodies acquired, along with a delicious new recipe idea to try and replicate at home.

We’ve started switching our TV from news or mindless noise to hour-long videos of beautiful calm settings with an ambient jazz background while we sip our morning coffee. Positive chi, highly recommend. 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

It was convenient to step out on our veranda to capture sunsets and lakefront scenes for the past decade, but we’re still moments away from both the Atlantic Ocean and the LaHave River, can’t complain. 🙏🏻 We went for a short drive today, I took 100 pictures, here’s four. 😊📷

We went for the double-V today (Flu/Cvd), I went in first, he followed and was out like a flash. "I suppose you didn't chat as much as me," I commented. "I just let her do her job," he says. 😉 We are not the same. 😆

Monday morning resolution - less mindless distraction, more focus on creating feelings of personal accomplishment, or simply nurturing peace and calm. Hope the week finds you well. 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

A simple pleasure for a dreary day, last week I made a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and froze them so now I can take one out and make it a wee bit melty in the microwave as a treat with my tea. Yummy and cozy.

Yesterday I ordered new glasses and today I got a nice cut from a new stylist and made an appointment for highlights in the new year before my birthday. Obviously going through a late-life crisis. 😁💁🏼‍♀️👵🏻

Hey NYT, my second guess *should* have been the right answer, this is what’s wrong with journalism these days. 😉🤓
