Day 147: ACTIVE

#Melissa became a hurricane today and is currently a Cat. 2 with winds at 100 mph.

NO impacts for us. However, life-threatening and CATASTROPHIC flash flooding is headed directly towards Jamaica and Southern Hispaniola by early next week.

#TropicalUpdate #FLwx
8:00pm ET

There are a few passing showers this evening across the mainland and entering the Upper Keys.

Rain chances are increasing for tomorrow, especially on Monday, before the fall fronts dry us out and cool us off.

#FLwx
Tonight's forecast via @nws.noaa.gov Miami and Key West:

A dry night is expected for all, with temps in the mid-70s in the mainland and upper-70s in the Keys. Only a 10% rain chance in the mainland, with better chances in the Keys at 30%.

#FLwx
Day 146: ACTIVE

#Melissa is looking more formidable. However, the turn we've been waiting for has shown up on the cone.

NO direct hit to South Florida. However, depending on how close it hits the Western Bahamas, there could be indirect impacts next week.

#TropicalUpdate #FLwx
Day 143: ACTIVE

#Melissa arrived earlier today and is currently a Tropical Storm with winds at 50 mph.

It will affect several Caribbean islands, but NO impacts to Florida or the mainland U.S.

#TropicalUpdate #FLwx
Tonight's forecast via @nws.noaa.gov Miami and Key West.

A dry evening for all. Light winds with temps in the mid-70s later tonight along the mainland, upper 70s in the Keys.

Keys: A Coastal Flood Statement is in effect through late tonight due to minor saltwater flooding.

#FLwx
This gives us hope. It looks like once #Melissa is done, the hurricane season seems to be coming to an end. With no development expected for the first two weeks of November, it feels good that the season's end is oh so close, with five weeks left.

#TropicalUpdate #FLwx
It looks like #Invest98L, the future #Melissa, will stay away from Florida as it moves west, then turn north, and affect Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and other portions of the Caribbean.

These are just models and things can change so stay tuned.

#TropicalUpdate #FLwx
4:10pm ET

We got rain and thunderstorms on the radar. However, not everybody is seeing this, nor will they for the rest of this evening.

#FLwx
Day 142: Something.

#Invest98L is becoming more impressive. 70% over the next two days and 90% over the next seven.

This is future #Melissa right here. No effect on Florida for now, but could be a threat to Haiti and the Dominican Republic by week's end.

#TropicalUpdate #FLwx
#BREAKING: @nws.noaa.gov Key West issues a Flood Advisory for the Middle Florida Keys until 2:15pm ET.

Day 141: Something.

Our eyes are now on #Invest98L tracking to move west. It has a 60% chance of formation, but early indications are saying that it could turn northeast once it forms and affect Haiti and the Dominican Republic, but not the US.

Day 139: Something

There are now two waves to watch in the Atlantic.

Over the next seven days:
1) The northern wave has a 10% chance but will stay out to sea.
2) The southern wave targeting Central America has a 30% chance. Plenty of time to monitor it.

#TropicalUpdate #FLwx
How did we fare this past rainy season? Drier than normal, as expected.

With a two-week late start, winds moving the rainfall towards the west coast in the first half, and no significant rainfall from any tropical system (no landfalls either), this season was drier than most.

#FLwx
USDA Drought Monitor Update (10/16/2025):

Mainland (Miami-Dade and Broward): Officially DROUGHT-FREE!
Florida Keys (Monroe): Abnormally Dry status, mainly in the Everglades. Its not affecting any residential areas, though.

#FLwx
Its not downright cooler, but at least its more comfortable this week and it has been wonderful.

Now if only the temps could fall too...

#FLwx
Day 137: ACTIVE

#Lorenzo is still out there, but getting weaker. By tonight, it will essentially be dead as it remains a #fishstorm.

Something may flare up next week and move towards Central America, although nothing is certain at this time.
