On today's Marc J. Taylor Greenway Hike, Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition & Southbury Land Trust took 30+ folks on an educational hike along the Pomperaug River at Platt Farm Preserve. Interesting topics, beautiful fall weather. Our thanks to PRWC's Olivia P. and Carol H. & our great group!

The Town Hall Pollinator Garden is a collaborative effort of Southbury Land Trust, Southbury Garden Club & Sustainable Southbury. New Jersey tea is a compact shrub, loves full sun; hosts 37+ species of lepidoptera & is host to the Spring Azure butterfly.

Ginny Apple, Master Wildlife Conservationist was a wonderful speaker at our Annual Meeting. President Joe Ruggiero spoke SLT projects, Trustee Laura Hine reviewed community outreach, & Rick Lynch received recognition for his volunteer work.

Got in two hours today at the Phillips Pollinator garden w/Page, Victoria, Joy, and Anne.

We planted Clethra alnifolia/ Summersweet, a dozen Aquilegia canadensis/Collumbine and Echinacea purpurea/Coneflower.
Bumblebees, hummingbirds, native bees and birds are going to love these plantings.

Stewardship Director Pat Monahan and his volunteers got a jump on the season at Platt Farm Preserve over the weekend. Stewards fixed fencing and cleared invasives. Thanks to the Hannans for their recent mowing work, too!

Really warm last night, but not a lot of rain early on for max amphibian movement. However, Big Night is not just one night.

Another Winter Seed Sowing session in the books!
We planted milkweed for Monarchs, made a few seed balls, and our group also took home seeds for Purple Coneflower, Skullcap, Lobelia, Orange Butterflyweed, and more!
