YouTube doesn't give any stats about how many people are subscribed to a podcast feed (its treated as a playlist) so I have no idea how many are affected but the old feed won't be updated any more, but there will be something posted to give the new address link.

Some housekeeping has been done with the audio feed of Songbirding on Youtube (& Youtube Music Podcasts 🙃) -- the podcast can now be found on a separate channel to keep things a bit neater.

This channel will be only audio content -- follow at the link below!

Between seasons, there will be some special Songbirding episodes. A few will be single-species focus for species that haven't been well covered in the last few years.

This week starts with the Orchard Oriole!

Technically what it does is makes a second sound layer where everything over 5KHz gets lowered an octave (so cut to half-frequency). If you don't have hearing loss it'll sound a bit weird.. or maybe cool? You decide!

In any case, very happy to finally bring this back.

There are many people who have high-frequency hearing loss, and don't hear a lot of bird sounds and & songs.

After a couple years hiatus I've finally had the time to begin updating the Songbirding Under 5KHz feed, where the high frequencies are lowered.

Did you know there's a proposal to split Warbling Vireo into two species -- essentially a Western and Eastern variety?

I get into that in this post. Also available to listen to. (Podcast feed for this kind of thing is forthcoming.)

Not many episodes of Songbirding get recorded in the rain -- mostly to keep the equipment safe -- but in this classic third season episode, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak (and others!) made it worth it.

This week we explore a short, obscure trail deep in Allegheny National Forest. One of the highlights between this and the second part (next week!) is a nest of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers.
