ICE WATCH 101: DC
BYSTANDER GUIDE

1. VERIFY THAT IT IS ICE
• It is important that you try & verify that it's ICE.
DC is uniquely overpoliced - apart from MPD, we have 30+ federal law enforcement agencies in the District. It can be difficult to tell them apart.
• Look at their badges, arm patches, vests/ jackets, and cars. ICE vehicles can be marked as ICE or DHS.

2. DOCUMENT BUT DO NOT ENGAGE
• Record the date, time, and location of the incident.
Be as specitic as possible!
• Take pictures and video. Try to capture pictures of the officers and their vehicles. Do NOT post the photos or video on social media.
• Other relevant info to document: How many agents are there? What are they doing?
• Do NOT engage. You could end up making things worse for the person being targeted.
