The holiday season can be tough.

I encourage my clients to set boundaries, discuss expectations, and remember feeling obligated to attend functions is almost never a reason to go.

All we can do is make choices that we feel proud of - the way people respond to those choices defines them, not us.

Throughout October, we recognize and celebrate LGBTQIA+ history month. This is a good month to remember the first pride was a protest.

Progress is hard won and never guaranteed. But this community is strong, courageous, and resilient.

Starting today - July 17 - 988 will no longer offer the LGBTQ+ Youth and Young Adult subnetwork, also known as the “Press 3 option.”

Fortunately, there are other options for LGBTQ+ specific support.

Watching the news, hearing first hand accounts, volunteering, and caring for those directly impacted by trauma can take a toll on our nervous systems and can cause secondary trauma symptoms.

Studies have found that LGBTQIA2S+ individuals experience higher rates of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and substance use disorders.

Fortunately, there are organizations out there doing good work for Austin LGBTQIA2S+ community members in need of resources!
