#PanoramaFriday! #Tahoma aka #MtRainier standing tall above the landscape. One challenging part of capturing Tahoma is the scale of the mountain compared with everything else. This is a 92 megapixel, 245-image composite taken from the #SkateCreek area in central WA.

at 14,410' above sea level Tahoma towers above everything around it. This is a shot in spring when there is still a lot of snow on the mountain and surrounding ridges. Clouds provide some nice contrast and interesting shapes.

Yes, Microsoft has been experimenting with under sea “data centers” (Project Natick) but using sea water for cooling is much different than space where there is no air or fluid to absorb the heat.

a creek with many channels crosses across this shot as it empties into Kachess Lake. Most of the ground is covered in snow which provides a striking background for the shadows of evergreen trees and the blue and turquoise of the lake.

A small waterfall set among the basalt cliffs of the Columbia Gorge. A mix of deciduous and evergreen trees frame the cliffs while the Columbia River can be seen below. There is a small rainbow in the mist of the waterfall.

Thank you. Yes, Sir that was a morning shot after a few other times in that area in the afternoon. I had been planning that shot for a few years now waiting for the perfect weather and time off.

I would highly recommend checking out nearby Rainbow Falls (also in the morning).
